Geographic Location
Singapore is marked by a small, heavily urbanized island city-state in Southeast Asia, located at the southern tip of the Malayan Peninsula between Malaysia and Indonesia. Singapore has a total land area of 699 km² and 193 km of coastline. It is separated from Indonesia by the Singapore Strait and from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor.
Time Zone
Singapore uses a time zone eight hours in advance of UTC, (UTC+8). It is known as Singapore Standard Time or SST, and is the same as Australian Western Standard Time, Central Indonesia Time, Malaysian Standard Time, Philippine Standard Time, Chinese Standard Time, Hong Kong Time and Macau Standard Time.
Population
Singapore population has reached 4,608,167 people as on July 2008 out of which 3.50 million are citizens and permanent residents. Singapore’s people are largely the descendents of immigrants from the Malay Peninsula, China and the Indian Sub - continent. The rest of the population are foreigners who are either working or studying here.
History
Singapore was founded as a British trading colony in 1819. It joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963 but separated two years later and became independent. Singapore subsequently became one of the world's most prosperous countries with strong international trading links and per capita GDP equal to that of the leading nations of Western Europe.
Sports
Singaporeans participate in a wide variety of sports and recreational activities. Favorite sports include soccer, swimming, badminton, basketball and table tennis. Living on an island, the people also enjoy many water activities including sailing, kayaking and waterskiing.

Admission Procedures
The normal minimum qualification for admission as a post-graduate student is the Bachelor's degree with a first or upper second class. For undergraduate degree the entry requirement is normally year 12 with 75%.. IELTS or TOEFL score is mandatory for admission GRE, GMAT are not required for admission
